Werribee Zoo

We love Melbourne’s zoos and have been Zoo Members ever since Lil’ E was 6 months old (membership covers all entrance fees every day of the year).  Werribee Zoo has recently gotten a whole lot better… introducing the RANGER KIDS section!Werribee Zoo

It’s a big indoor play area which is perfect for the cooler months and for those inevitable days when it’s raining outside.  But it has loads of educational activities…

There are puzzles..Werribee Zoo small-1

Food prep, dress up, shadow puppet, and even planting areas…Werribee Zoo
Sitting front & central is a really neat helicopter to air-lift the injured animals.Werribee Zoo small-6

There’s also an emergency animal hospital set up where kids can read case scenarios on what happened to each pet & help them (think bandages, needles, x-rays).Werribee Zoo small-3

There are also real life leopard tortoises for the children to observe.Werribee Zoo

And.. the piece de resistance – the new nursing & change table area complete with bottle / food warming gadgets.Werribee Zoo

Werribee is great for a spot of exercise if you choose to walk around to each exhibit.  But if your children get a bit tired after a couple of hours, don’t forget to jump on the safari bus where the phenomenal guides are always full of passion, excellent with the children & happy to share their amazing stories and a whole array of interesting animal facts.Werribee Zoo small-13
