Chez Dre is an amazing establishment in South Melbourne with the most exquisite pieces of edible art. We recently went there to pick up a selection of sweets and macarons. The variety was impressive and the macarons were perfect.

Here is the selection of Dre’s petit gateaux and macarons which we ended up taking home with us.

Hazelnut-Praline Crunch – hazelnut dacquoise, ganduja mousse, hazelnut & chocolate crumble

20131109-002833.jpgAbsolutely exquisite.

Mango & passionfruit St Honore – passionfruit creme, mango chantilly, sesame seed tuile, vanilla marshmallow

20131109-223645.jpgThere was passionfruit curd oozing out from the choux. Such an impressive masterpiece.

Banana, caramel & Ghana milk chocolate – caramel bavarois, banana creme, passionfruit ganache, hazelnut crunch

20131109-224109.jpgAn incredible praline base with layer upon layer of flavoursome intention. Apparently it’s one of their most popular petit gateaux – and for good reason.

Green tea, kalamanzi & muscovado sugar – green tea bavarois, kalamanzi jelly, muscovado sugar creme

20131109-224628.jpgThey were all so good but this was my favourite. The combination of flavours – green tea, chocolate & coffee – was magnifique!

And finally our selection of macarons – chocolate, passionfruit, salted caramel, blackcurrant, green tea, cinnamon-red bean

20131109-231403.jpgI’m hard to please when it comes to macarons – but these were fantastic. The symmetry, artistry, crunch, texture & flavour were divine.

They also serve breakfast there all day and have a lunch menu as well.

If you haven’t already been there – do yourself a favour & check it out now.. xx
